“for reasons of health,”

“”for reasons of health,” a euphemism for sexual abuse used within the church…”   This quote appeared in an article distributed by the AP on May 30, 2010.  I found it on www.foxnews.com   I know it is not a euphemism because I took a year away from active ministry reported as, ‘for reasons of health’, and it was for health reasons.  Now of course there is irony here because my health reasons were due to the fact that I was then at a point of an absolute inability to function.  That paralysis was because of the sexual scandal that swirled around me in the Church and the fact that I myself had been sexually abused by a priest when I was young.  For me my leave, (12 months), was actually for reasons of health.

Because of my unique situation of being both a priest and the victim of a priest I’m getting traumatized over and over again by the true revelations about the behavior of some members of the Church hierarchy, (what they did & didn’t do), and traumatized more by false and sloppy reporting.  Oy vey!

Of course I am still fighting for the truth.  And the truth will only be good for the Church in the long run.  Another front has presented itself.  Oy vey again!

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
