It is asinining to say that when a sexual relationship starts between adults and there is a significant power difference between the two parties that it is a consensual, sexual relationship. It is not. It is also asinining to say that any priest, anywhere, under any circumstances should be involved in a sexual relationship with anyone of any age or any gender.

One of my friends recently asked how I’m doing in regard to the ongoing and growing sex scandal in the Church.  I must admit that this is a trigger for me and is kicking my ass. The thing that is probably the most upsetting to me is watching sleazy cardinals and bishops try to worm their way out of and around this issue.

Yes we are all sinners but we are not talking about weakness. What we are talking about is a pattern of sexual misconduct and subsequent attempts to cover-up. We are talking about priests living double lives. (be it heterosexual or homosexual…mostly the latter). We are talking about some priests and bishops giving the greenlight to sodomy and pushing an agenda that is against God and the Church.

If we truly believe that there is one God in three persons then it does not matter that homosexual activity was not called out by name by Jesus.  Fornication was called out by name by Jesus as wrong.  Homosexual activity was called out by name as sinful by St. Paul. It rests in the canon of the New Testament which is inspired by God.  Evil, another word for sin, can NEVER be alright with the Almighty. How come some people refuse to understand that?  How come some bishops and some priests refuse to understand that? One must ask do they even believe in God?

As I watch this scandal grow and hear the Church in America and their permissive attitude toward these demonic actions and I hear the permissive attitudes coming from Rome I cringe.  I am not sinless and by no means think that I have my eternity in heaven wrapped up. I am very aware that hell is a possibility for all of us.  I also know that partaking of fornication and of sodomy is not right, is not good, is a sin and will NEVER be something that God tolerates.

It is not only disingenuous but evil to lead anyone down that path.  Yet there are priests and bishops doing just that. Unrepentant mortal sin leads to hell.  That should be something that we all need to think about.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
