Leaving the Church because of the sinful men involved is just stupid

This will be brief. The sexual molestation scandal is NOT about God it is about sinful man. Leaving the Church because of the sinful men involved is just stupid. Since going to mass is about the worship of God and God is truly present, body, blood, soul and divinity in the eucharist, why give that up?  At least be honest and acknowledge that you were just looking for a reason to leave the Church.  If anyone had a right to leave the Church it would be me.  I am aware that I am not there for man but am there for and because of God.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.

  1. Miguel Prats says:

Exactly Father! As a survivor of abuse by a priest, I agree 100%.
I refuse to let anyone wreck my relationship with Jesus.
The Eucharist is the most intimate union with my Lord and I get it at mass.
The bishops who enabled predators to move to new parishes without warning
is the greater sin in my eyes but I leave the judgment to God.
It’s not my problem. Saving my soul and having a happy life only came when I learned how to forgive the unforgivable like Maria Goretti and Josephine Bakhita did.
Keep up the good work you’re doing Father.
