Decisive action needs to be taken on do nothing bishops too

Here is one line taken from the closing prayer in the Liturgy of the Hours for St. Stanislaus – “Keep us strong and loyal in our faith until death.”  As all of our prayers are this is directed to God.  Now what do you think the reaction of God is to those entrusted with the deposit of faith who through their action and inaction’s surrounding the clergy sexual abuse scandal have not kept the faithful strong and loyal to the faith?  It really is not a stretch to suppose that those entrusted with the deposit of faith are not strong or loyal in their own faith.

Pope Francis has put forth a reaffirmation of the decree for a swift and decisive response to clergy sexual abuse of minors.  What does that mean?  What swift decisive response has happened, especially the bishops?  When the Roger Cardinal Mahonys are in our deposit of faith pool what decisively happens?  Lies, stonewalling, more lies, protection of clergy abusers, that has been the decisive action. And he continues to make a mockery of Christ who is truth by insisting his actions were harmless. Decisive action needs to be taken on do nothing bishops too.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
