Arianism, the Holy Spirit, Sexual abuse

In honoring St. Hilary and his battle against Arianism and Arian bishops we have a perfect example of how a man inspired by, and listening to, the Holy Spirit can help change things in the Church.  It is obvious that bishops, the princes of the Church, who were Arianists, (denying the divinity of Christ), were not paying attention to the Holy Spirit.  When the Holy Spirit is ignored in the Church, (like on the issue of sexual abuse), then men and women of faith have to step into the vacuum that is being caused and maintained by the bishops who ignore the Holy Spirit.  The time is perfect for many St. Hilarys to step forward, to be counted and to listen to the Holy Spirit.  The lesson that I take away from the Arianism controversy is that even though there were many bishops who supported this idea it was proven that they were wrong and that in the end God gets what God wants, (in spite of being ignored by so many).

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
