Rev. Msgr. Bill Lynn was just Rev. Bill Lynn when I knew him. He was a nice man. He was quiet, unassuming and seemed to be a genuinely nice guy. That’s what I remember of him as the Dean of Men at St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia. Now look at him. Would anyone ever believe that he was the unassuming and quiet, nice guy? I for one do not want to believe that he is a person who endangered children like he has been accused of being by a Philadelphia Grand Jury. And really I think that on his own the horror that is reported in the two grand jury reports that he is responsible for could not have happened. That leads me to believe that he was just following orders from Cardinal Archbishop Anthony Bevilacqua. Where have we heard the excuse of just following orders before? Oh yes, the Nazi’s. Immoral things done because men were just following orders. It seems a sick way to operate…well…anything. Being a yes man has just brought Monsignor Lynn an indictment. It also could have brought him the title of Monsignor but is the title worth it now?
