” The poor man is devoured by the pride of the wicked: he is caught in the schemes that others have made…In his pride the wicked says: He will not punish. There is no God.” Taken from Psalm 10
So much pride is in the way of so much healing that needs to go on in people who have suffered clergy sexual abuse, all abuse really. But here the pride of the hierarchy is prevalent. The pride of a lot of the clergy has become evident. The pride of so-called faithful Catholics has manifested itself. There is even pride in some of the people who allegedly “Help” victims. (I’m talking about lawyers & some of the groups involved who are most concerned with pushing their own agenda.) And all of this wickedness and pride is allowed to get in the way of real and deep healing. When the sin is so egregious, as the sin of clergy sexual abuse is, there has to be healing on both the psychological level and the spiritual level. And all this pride is getting in the way.
