Pope Benedict XVI And The Sexual Abuse Crisis: Working For Reform And Renewal

Pope Benedict XVI And The Sexual Abuse Crisis: Working For Reform And Renewal by Gregory Erlandson & Matthew Bunson

It is a great book.  Get it.  Read it.  It shows that the man at the top of the hierarchy does get “it”.  It seems it is the underlings like diocesan bishops who do not get it.

If I find the website that they recommend I’ll post it.

Yesterday in my homily I expressed/explained to the parishioners that we need to be praying for all victims of abuse including Mr. Vai.  We need to pray for Mr. Newburger and (gasp) even the priest perpetrator Francis De Luca.  If there is something that makes us angry, (like it seems that those men have in varying degrees), then we need to pray for them.   I broached this subject because of all of the vitriol that I am witnessing aimed at all of these parties.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
