Even though the diocese has declared bankruptcy there are some lawsuits against some parishes and one priest going forward in the courts. Today in the news paper I read something that shocked me about the diocese and the one priest, (De Luca). He’s 81, was convicted in New York of child molestation, (a family member), and went to jail. (For how long I’m not sure.) The paper said that up until now that the diocese was paying for his attorney. WHAT!?!
It never crossed my mind that they would do something like that. The article said that the diocese would not cover his legal bills any longer since filing for bankruptcy. Why were they covering his expenses at all? COVER-UP!!!!
I just do not understand any of this. Not to be mean or vindictive it’s just mind-boggling to me that the diocese would have any inclination to fund a retired priest’s legal bills due to his predilections unless it was to keep something else hidden. The diocesan house of cards is about to collapse further into the basement.
