Archbishop of NY

I did get a response to my NY letter from Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan.  It was a nice response saying the archbishop would consider my requests and take them to prayer.  I want to believe him.  If both he and Cardinal Rigali do give the go-ahead for the individual personalized contact of all of the people who came forward with allegations of abuse, and not just lumped them together as they have been, it will go a long way for a lot of the victims.  I am sure that there will be some that have a, “too little too late”, attitude but for me personally such contact would have been welcomed.

The underlying problem, if you can call it that, is that victims are suspicion of others motives.  I am.  Trust has been severely compromised.  Maybe we all had too much trust in the first place.  That is a cynical position I know but if you come from a place of no trust you cannot be hurt or disappointed.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
