Natural Moral Law and this mess

Oooo, another way to look at this smacked me in the face yesterday.  The clergy sexual abuse broke laws all over the place; civil law, criminal law, Church law, and even more disturbing, natural moral law.  Why is that more disturbing?  Common sense tells you that sexually abusing people is wrong.  Common sense also dictates that covering up the abuse, lying, hiding, denying, is also wrong.  Natural moral law has a lot to do with common sense.  The Catechism of the Catholic Church states; “It presupposes the rational order, established among creatures for their good and to serve their final end, by the power, wisdom, and goodness of the Creator.”  It goes on from paragraph 1949 to 1960.  It seems that the wisdom and goodness of God was in no way reflected in the hierarchy that made this mess.  Read Ezekiel and weep with me.  Those prophetic words are still true.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
