Victim assistant offices are not doing enough.

I am now going to send all the bishops in the state of New York who head a diocese a letter encouraging them to do more for victims and not just tout what they are now doing to prevent new victims.  Victims who don’t make a big noise are ignored.  No victim should be ignored.  As a Church we have a duty to reach out to them continuously and not wait for them to come to us.  Philadelphia, Pittsburg and Washington DC all responded that they have Victim Assistance Offices.  Big whoop, they aren’t doing enough to make connections with victims so a different letter needs to be written.

When I compose a new letter(s) to send to the bishops I will post it/them.  I, of course, have to pray about this first.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
