Nothing. I’ve heard nothing.
On Sunday I gave an impassioned plea, (or a tirade), to the people at the 9:30 & 11:00 masses, telling them that they should be pissed, (not using that word), that nothing is being done by the hierarchy to positively address the hugely negative impact of the clergy sexual scandal. After all we are all victims. As the Body of Christ we have all been effected by the sexual abuse…by the sin of the few. It has been eight years since the details of the Boston abuse and cover-up took the nation by storm. And what has been done? What steps have been taken that can be seen or measured for the healing of the wound done to us all? Eight years, eight years and nothing. Of course it is only recently that scapegoating the press, lawyers, and victims has stopped or slowed to a trickle… Thank you Pope Benedict for that! What example does this ‘do nothing’ strategy give not only to Catholics but also non-Catholics? This gives those who hate the Church because they do not truly know what the Church believes or do not understand the Church’s spiritual exercises or life ammunition, based on reality this time, to assail the Church. UGH! My head hurts.
