Finally, a Noise

Justin Cardinal Rigali responded to my first letter, the one I sent out to bishops Barres and Malooly as well as to Archbishop Rigali.  The letter actually didn’t say much but at least is an acknowledgement that I even sent a letter.   The letter does state that he is open to any considering any ideas that I may be willing to share.

My fantasy is that everyone who has come forward be aggressively pursued and offered the chance, repeatedly if need be, to go on a program like Grief to Grace.  I know that not everyone is ready to confront the pain that is why the offer of help must be constantly pursued.  The lost sheep need to be searched out constantly.  Is the hierarchy ready to do that?  I can’t even get some of them…most of them…to aknowledge a letter.

Part of me desperately wants to believe that the cardinal of Philadelphia is sincere and truly wants to help victims, (after all of the stonewalling that has been done in the past).   Dare I embrace a glimmer of hope?  I need to compose my response ASAP.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
