The Head and Body

“Just as the head and body of a man form one single man, so the son of the virgin and those he has chosen to be his members form a single man” – Blessed Isaac of Stella

To my point that all people who have left the Church due to being abused sexually, and some again when they sought help from bishops and dioceses and were ignored or worse, the Church is mandated by the gospel to seek them out, bring them back, help them find healing.  All members of the Church form the body with Christ as the head.   We are a singular person.

When some of the members that make up the body have been injured the rest of the members are also injured and need to step up and help with healing.  The, “rest”, includes the faithful who are still active in the Church, who still love the Church, as well as the hierarchy.  Past mistakes and evil actions can not be undone.  But moving forward the Church must do more to heal and reconcile those who have been hurt…sinful actions hurt us all.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
