Still a real Roman Catholic

If we look at scripture and compare how the religious powers that be handled the ‘Jesus’ issue then with how the men running the Church are handling the sexual abuse issue now we see some disturbing parallels.  Jesus was ultimately betrayed by Judas, one of his own.  This was done in secret.  Then when Jesus was arrested it was done in the night and in secret.  The trial was also initially begun at night and was a secret to those, (not in his inner circle), who followed Jesus.  What do we know now, and should have all along?  That the best weapon for dishonesty and evil is SECRET.

The underaged, (actually everyone), who were sexually abused and had the courage to come forward with this information were treated inhumanly, were not listened too, were told that they were lying, were threatened.  Everything became a secret.  What is one of the ways that evil thrives?  Secrets!  I see the connection.  Why don’t bishops?  Secrets + darkness + lies = EVIL!!!!  And evil was allowed to fester for years.  That does not make the Roman Catholic Church evil.  The actions and inaction of sinful men who ran/run the Church were/are evil.  The betrayal of the Church is by our own.

About follow1in3

I am a Roman Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington, DE who is also a victim of clergy sexual abuse. I am often angered by the insensitiviy and hostility of other clergy, the hierarchy and the so-called people-of-God. If clergy, bishops included, really and truly understood abuse, (any kind of abuse), I would not feel the need to blog on occasion. It is very frustraing.
